Best Light home page
Our web design process

At Best Light Communication, the creation of your new web site proceeds like this:

1. We learn about your needs, your business, and your target audience. We find out what you'd like your web site to do for you, what you'd like it to contain, and how you'd like it to look.

2. We prepare a proposal for you that makes recommendations based on our understanding of your needs. It contains an estimate of times and costs to create the site you want. You review the proposal and either accept it as is, or suggest changes before approving it.

3. We prepare a contract based on the approved proposal. Once you sign the contract and pay the deposit, we begin the work.

4. You supply us with all graphics (e.g. logo, branding elements, colour schemes) and copy (i.e., text) that you want us to include in our design.

5. We prepare 2-3 "prototype" designs for your home page and inner pages, to give you a choice of the look and feel of your new site. These are original designs, custom-made for you.

6. Once you've chosen your preferred design, we begin building your home page and inner pages. We post these pages on a non-public area of the Internet, and invite you to have a look. As the rest of your site takes shape, we continue this consultation process.

7. Once you have approved of all the pages and we've tested them with all major browsers, we publish the site!

8. We follow up to make sure that you're happy with your new site and that everything is working as you expected it to. We also offer you a choice of web site maintenance plans, allowing you to keep your site up to date on an ongoing basis, at a reasonable cost.

We structure our process in this way to make sure that we build the site that you want, not the site that we want! You know your business and your clients best - our job is to translate your expertise to the web, and to advise you on the best ways to achieve your online communication goals.

We do most of our business through the Internet

When we design a web site for a client, there's usually a lot of back and forth that goes on.

We post the work in progress on our own web server, and consult with you via email as your site takes shape.

Occasionally, phone calls or meetings are preferred or necessary, but in most cases the quickest way to get and give feedback is by posting your developing site on the World Wide Web, and then communicating with you about it through email.

We design web sites that show you in the very best light.
